Wynners
Live In Malaysia 2010
Date: 6 & 7 August 2010 (Friday & Saturday)
Time: 8.00pm
Venue: Arena of Stars
The Wynners are a Hong Kong pop band formed in the 1970s and comprising 5
members - Alan Tam (vocals), Kenny Bee (vocals), Bennett Pang (guitar), Danny
Yip (bass guitar) and Anthony Chan (drums). Created by manager Pato Leung in
1973, the group soon became one of the most popular teen idol groups in Hong
Kong at the time. Singing exclusively English songs in their early days (mainly
covers of popular contemporary hit songs), they soon moved on to collaborate
with songwriter / lyricist James Wong in 1975. This lead to the release of a
number of original Cantonese songs for the "Let's Rock" movie soundtrack.
From their very first studio album, Listen To The Wynners, this charismatic pop
group proved to be both a critical as well as a commercial success. With a
string of hits songs to their name, including "L-O-V-E Love", "KUNG FU
Fighting", "All By Myself", "Feelings" and more, this talented pop band has also
managed to translate their musical accomplishments to other forms of popular
media. Amongst which was the television show The Wynners Special (1975) on TVB
and 3 feature films: "Let's Rock" (1975), "Gonna Get You" (1976) and "Making It"
(1978).
With their signature light-hearted and colloquial song-style, they truly helped
to define and influence the early Cantopop era. And having previously performed
in Genting Highlands way back in 1998, The Wynners are returning once again to
present a night of splendid entertainment and dazzling excitement!
